Synopsis of Thanksgiving on Plymouth Plantation
When Liz and her brother visit Grandma for Thanksgiving, she puts on her magic
hat and the three travel back in time to Plymouth Plantation in 1621. This picture
book for 5 - 8 years of age is chock full of facts about life of the Pilgrims in
Massachusetts. The children meet Governor Bradford, Squanto, Massasoit, Myles Standish,
and the working Pilgrims. They participate in the harvest festival, which we now think
of as Thanksgiving, and attend the Sunday service. The illustrations and story combine
to present a lively history of the life of the early settlers.
