Why A Child's Introduction to Poetry will captivate you
You will find in this anthology so many of the well-known great poems--from Emily Dickinson's I'm Nobody! Who are You! to Caged Bird's Song by Maya Angelou. This is not a dry poetry book. These poems come alive as the meanings are explained by words and clever illustrations. There are even side-bars that give explanations of some unfamiliar words used by the poet (i.e. “knaves, pitch-and-toss, sinew” used in An Englishman in Bombay by Rudyard Kipling.) The delight, the passion, and the knowledge of Michael Driscoll are evident in the way this book is presented.
