Synopsis
Jonathan Toomey is called Mr. Gloomy by all his neighbors. He is a bitter man who hides his face behind a scraggly beard. He is, however, the best woodcarver in the area. When a widow and her young son commission him to carve a creche for them and the son wants to become a woodcarver, Jonathan's heart begins to melt and a miracle happens. P. J. Lynch has provided beautiful illustrations of the woodcarver, the early-American setting of the story, and of the creche itself. Truly a lovely book for Christmas.
Description
This is a new book but has been in inventory for a while. There is some very slight shelfwear to the edges of the book jacket. Still, it is gift-giving quality.
