Why You Will Enjoy Pedro the Brave

This is a boys' adventure story told in catchy rhyming text and with playful artwork that will have all readers chuckling.

The wolf shows up in cowboy attire complete with a string tie and red boots. I don't believe any child age 4 or older would be frightened by the wolf. He is so clearly outwitted by Pedro. This book could even be used by parents to discuss childhood fears and how the fears can be "outsmarted". Pedro the Brave will be enjoyed by both boys and girls and children of all races.

Synopsis

Pedro the Brave uses catchy rhyming text to tell of outwitting a wolf. Pedro and his friends Dusty and Ronnie the horse were dancing and playing guitars under the bright August moon when the wolf joins their campfire and wants some soup. Click here to hear my granddaughter, Deanna, read this book.

Description

Pedro uses his wit and a special sauce concoction to save his friends.  The bold reds, yellows, blues, and greens complement the action of the rhyming text extremely well.  The pictures are full-color and dominate the pages; the story can be read by a beginning reader in a short sitting.  Adults may need to help with the pronouciation of large words such as "tabasco," "vindaloo paste", and "paprika". Pedro combines these ingredients with dynamite dust, gunpowder, garlic, whiskey, mustard, green chilies, and jam for quite a spicy sauce.

New Arrival

Caps for Sale

Esphyr Slobodkina has recreated an old folk tale about a peddlar selling caps and a band of monkeys who have their own ideas for those hats, monkey business. Ms. Slobodkina's bright colorful illustrations of the gray, brown, blue, and red caps all balancing on the peddlars head and then on the heads of the mischievious monkeys adds to the fun of Caps for Sale.
