Synopsis
Bartholomew the mouse is very small and is usually ignored by all the other animals. Therefore, he is amazed when he is invited to come to view the new king born in a stable.
Description
This is a children's picture book about the first Christmas, about Bartholomew, a tiny mouse, and of how he receives a blessing by the Christ Child and thus participating in the first "blessing of the animals." All children will identify with the tiny Bartholomew as he struggles to be noticed and to be heard. On Christmas Eve his world changes as he realizes his size is not important to the Christ Child. Bartholomew also tries unsuccessfully to bring many gifts to the child only to realize that all that is necessary is to bring oneself. Bartholomew receives the animals' Christmas blessing.
Why I chose this book
Much as the "Littlest Angel" does, "Bartholomew's Blessing" tells children that treasures of the heart are what matter most to Jesus. This is an inspirational story focusing on the Christian meaning of Christmas. For ages 3 - 8.
