Summer Reading
Select a picture book deemed by the experts to be the best within its genre. These books are the Caldecott Medal winners. Each year in January the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, awards the medal to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. The medal has been awarded every year since 1938. Purchasing a Caldecott Medal-winner for your child insures you are giving a book with outstanding illustrations.
